07 May 2021 There are 501,236 vaccine doses administered yesterday in Italy. Number that exceeds the 500 thousand a day announced by the emergency commissioner Francesco Figliuolo. The number of Covid vaccine administrations was calculated at 4 in the morning. Numbers like this were not seen since 29 and 30 April.

The vaccination campaign runs so much that from next Monday, May 10, reservations will be open to over 50s, announced Figliuolo. A turning point that some large Regions had already anticipated, such as Lazio, Lombardy and Veneto, equal to about one third of the national population.

Now the classes up to 1971

The further leap forward, up to those born in 1971, is allowed "by the good progress of the administration campaign of the priority categories, over 80 and frail", according to the structure led by Figliuolo. A quarter of Italians (25%) received at least one dose, among them three-quarters of the over 70s, those most at risk of serious or fatal consequences for Covid. The accumulation in the refrigerators of 4.7 million doses of vaccines, over two million of which Pfizer delivered yesterday to the Regions, also allows the opening to the over 50s - always with priority to those with pathologies. And the 17 million arriving in May, confirmed Figliuolo.

Administer over 22 million doses

So far, over 22 million doses have been administered and there are about 7 million vaccinated also with booster. Until yesterday, the campaign had not seen more than half a million injections per day on 29 and 30 April, but still remained above 400 thousand daily. The differences remain important between regions and between vaccines used.
