Magdeburg (AP) - SC Magdeburg suffered a setback in the handball Bundesliga in the race for third place.

SCM lost to HBW Balingen-Weilstetten on Thursday evening with 26:28 (13:12).

Magdeburg's best thrower was Omar Magnusson with seven hits.

Oddur Gretarsson was the most successful among the guests with six goals.

Magdeburg looked a bit rusty after the international break and was well behind (3: 6/9.).

The SCM defense barely had access to the enemy.

Only after a few hasty Balinger attacks did they equalize (9: 9/16.).

Jannick Green now showed a few saves and the SCM struggled to achieve a two-goal lead (13: 11/26.).

HBW started the second half better and turned the game around again (15: 16/35.).

Magdeburg stayed tuned, but hardly found its usual game.

So the guests withdrew one by one (20: 23/44.).

The SCM lacked the offensive ideas and the defensive did not work as usual.
