  • Royalty Alois of Liechtenstein: the last absolute monarch of Europe

Controversy in

Liechteinstein

over the behavior of

Prince Emmanuel.

Prince Hans Adam's nephew has been accused of

poaching in Romania

and killing the

largest bear

not only in the country, but possibly in Europe. An event that has generated great discontent throughout the continent, especially among environmental associations. The events took place a few weeks ago, although it has not been until now that

the news has emerged.

At the moment, it is estimated that there are approximately 6,000 bears in the wild in the area where the event occurred, and this one, known as

17-year-old Arthur, was the largest.

Apparently, the prince was participating in

a hunt with several acquaintances

when he shot the animal down. There are many associations that have issued complaints against the

royal

, accusing him of murdering the bear with

the sole intention of showing off his trophy.

According to sources close to the prince, Hans Adam's nephew

had a special permit to hunt,

something that is actually true, although with certain nuances. He had a dispensation that is granted in the country when it is necessary to kill an animal that is problematic or that could

put human lives at risk,

which is not exactly the case of Arthur. It is true that there was a bear in the Covasna region that had attacked several farms, which is why this permission had been granted, which, however, does not exactly apply to Arthur, who

did not present any threat.

For now,

the investigation remains open

and the Principality's press office has not wanted to make any statements since they consider that it is a

private matter

of Prince Hans Adam's nephew that should not affect the normal development of the country's activities.

Of course, what they have done is to distance themselves from this disrespectful action towards nature with a statement in which they assure that "the House of the Prince wants to point out that

respect for nature

has been one of the fundamental concerns of the House and is a central element

of the family's commitment to ecological and social sustainability

".
