In Brazil, the worst gunfight of this year took place, resulting in close to 30 casualties.

A firefight broke out between police and drug gangs in the morning of yesterday (6th) local time in a slum in downtown Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

In the course of the shootout, 25 people were killed, including one police officer and 24 drug crew members.

In addition, at least 4 people were injured, including 2 police officers and 2 subway passengers.

The police conducted a crackdown on drug gangs based in the slums of the city of Rio de Janeiro, where narcotics gang members resisted fiercely, including detonating prison bombs.

The Zachareginho slum is known as the home of the largest drug gang in Rio de Janeiro, and drug gang members have set up barricades everywhere to block police access.

The drug gang is also accused of being involved in the trafficking of children and adolescents, murder, robbery, and kidnapping.

Earlier, in Rio de Janeiro, at the end of last month, gunfights between police and drug gang members took place in several residential areas, killing at least nine people and injuring nine.

In a firefight, three public health centers were closed, staff evacuated, and corona19 vaccination was stopped.
