Berlin (dpa) - Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU) has confirmed that children and adolescents should quickly get their turn when vaccinating for their age group after corona vaccines have been approved.
“We want to lift the prioritization from the beginning of June anyway.
But we will also talk to the federal states about it: "How can we ensure that the young people get there quickly?", Said Merkel during an online discussion in the context of so-called youth policy days.
The German vaccine manufacturer Biontech and its US partner Pfizer recently applied to the European approval authority EMA for approval of their preparation for children and adolescents aged 12 to 15 years.
Merkel was very confident: "That will certainly happen very soon."

Young people in particular have “a high degree of mobility and a legitimate right to exercise and also to be safe,” emphasized the Chancellor.
"That is why we will do everything we can - depending, of course, on the vaccine doses available - not to lose sight of this group."
Merkel also warned against forgetting older people who have not yet been vaccinated.
The CDU politician thanked children and young people for their solidarity in the pandemic.
"These are big, big restrictions that are there, learning, being alone," she said, referring to the contact restrictions.
Despite large holes in the household and high expenses due to Corona, she warned "not to forget the needs of young people, of children, but to keep them at the center".
