Weinzierl is hoping for a victory that would be a "giant step" to stay in the league.
"When you change coach there is always an effect," said the man who had worked successfully as a coach at FCA from 2012 to 2016.
The first game confronts him with the past.
After a 6-0 win with Stuttgart in Augsburg, Weinzierl had to leave VfB on April 20, 2019.
"These are the stories that football writes," said Weinzierl when we met again in the Stuttgart arena: "I don't want to look back, it only counts on Friday evening at 8.30 p.m."
