Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Free corona tests for a visit to the Hagenbeck Zoo are also possible on site from Saturday.

Four so-called drive-in test streets for cars and a lane for pedestrians and cyclists should enable uncomplicated and quick testing, as the zoo announced on Friday.

The center was built on a plot of land belonging to the zoo.

Appointments can be booked on the website www.secura-teststation.de.

But even without an appointment it is possible to have a smear taken.

After 15 minutes, those tested receive their results.

The zoo has been open again since the end of April.

This had become possible because Hamburg had taken over the so-called corona emergency brake of the federal government.

After that, the outdoor areas of zoos and botanical gardens are allowed to reopen.

However, a fixed appointment must be booked online before the visit and a negative test certificate must be presented.
