Dortmund / Leverkusen (dpa / lnw) - A car driver has delivered a chase with the police between Dortmund and Leverkusen.
The 23-year-old should be checked by officials on Friday night in Dortmund, as a police spokeswoman said.
But he ignored the stop signs and fled onto Autobahn 1 in the direction of Cologne.
There he drove so quickly and dangerously that the police couldn't stop him.
A helicopter was also used in the search.
At the height of a construction site near Leverkusen, the 23-year-old's car skidded and collided with a truck.
The man continued his escape on foot before he was arrested a short time later without resistance.
Officials took the man, who was slightly injured in the collision, to the police station.
Because of salvage work on the A1, traffic jammed for up to three kilometers in the morning, according to WDR.
Accordingly, the motorway between Burscheid and Kreuz Leverkusen should probably remain closed until noon.
