For his first speech since his return to the Ministry of Defense, General Daoud Yaya Brahim is reassuring.
Strapped in his uniform and blue beret screwed to his head, he justifies the strong military presence in the streets of Ndjamena since
the incursion of the Fact rebels
in the neighboring province of Kanem.
“
The situation is calm and under state control.
The soldiers present in Ndjamena today are soldiers who come from the provinces and who are preparing to return to their respective units.
I reassure all citizens: the state is able to ensure security and peace.
"
Referring to the Fact rebels, the minister speaks of "
terrorists who do not even know Chad
", adding that most come from Libya, Europe or Saudi Arabia.
He says search operations are still underway in Kanem.
“
The enemy is in disarray.
Some have put on djellabas to be in certain villages.
I congratulate the fellow citizens who denounced them and who informed the State authority on the spot.
Today they are in the hands of the State, in the gendarmerie and in Ndjamena.
"
According to justice,
246 rebels of the Fact were captured
and referred to the prosecutor's office in Ndjamena.
