Chemnitz (dpa) - On the way to the cultural capital year 2025, cyclists from Chemnitz want to build on the idea of the peace ride this September.
78 ambitious recreational cyclists will ride in two stages from Chemnitz to Prague and back again, as the organizers announced.
This involves a distance of more than 400 kilometers and 5500 meters of altitude.
In this way, not only the European togetherness and exchange should be embodied, but also a cultural connection between art and sport should be emphasized, it was said at the presentation of the project on Friday.
The ride on September 11th and 12th offers a foretaste of the European Peace Ride - a project in the Capital of Culture year 2025. It is “also a celebration of cycling culture, which is deeply rooted in the Chemnitz region, but also the Mobility of the future touches », it says about this project in the application book.
The trip will then lead from Pilsen in the Czech Republic to Chemnitz.
The International Peace Tour was originally a cross-border amateur race, which was held for the last time in 2006.
It was also known as the “Tour de France of the East”.
