Rhauderfehn / Bourtange (dpa / lni) - Three men stole a sports boat on a trailer in Rhauderfehn in the district of Leer and fled across the border into the Netherlands.
The police said that the perpetrators between the ages of 27 and 39 took the boat out of a carport next to a residential building early on Friday morning.
The owner noticed the theft, followed suit, and alerted the police.
The perpetrators wanted to leave the trailer behind near the Dutch town of Bourtange in order to advance more quickly.
A little later the police parked the getaway car and the men were provisionally arrested.
The officers secured the car and took the loot into custody.
The investigation into the theft in the district of Holte is ongoing.
