Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The seven-day incidence in Baden-Württemberg continues to shrink.

On a state-wide average, 155.3 out of 100,000 inhabitants were found to be infected with the coronavirus within the past seven days, as the State Health Office announced on Thursday in Stuttgart (as of 4:00 p.m.).

The previous day the value was 159.2.

The number of confirmed corona infections in Baden-Württemberg since the beginning of the pandemic has increased by 3,070 to 461,305.

9,488 people have now died of or related to the coronavirus.

That was 23 more than the day before.

An estimated 403,762 infected people are considered recovered (plus 3,385).

25 of the 44 urban and rural districts in Baden-Württemberg have corona numbers above the 150 incidence.

The value is highest in the Schwarzwald-Baar district with 264.9, and lowest with 44.8 in the neighboring district of Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald.

It is the only district in the southwest below the 50 mark from which health authorities can track contacts from infected people.

Since the end of December, 106,197 cases with indications of "worrying variants" have been sent to the State Health Office.

Viruses with mutations that have a higher risk of infection, such as those discovered in Great Britain (B.1.1.7) and South Africa (B1.351), are considered to be such.

According to the information, their share in the southwest is 93 percent and is therefore falling slightly.

According to data from the Robert Koch Institute, 3,330,692 people in Baden-Württemberg have been vaccinated against the virus for the first time.

That is 30.0 percent of the population.

A second vaccination, which is necessary for some vaccines, was given to 910 044 people who were vaccinated (8.2 percent);

they are therefore considered fully vaccinated.

According to the State Health Office, 13.0 percent of the 2,461 operable intensive care beds are currently free.

This value is important in order to be able to assess the utilization of the health system.

Such beds are not only needed for Covid 19 patients with severe courses, but also for other serious illnesses.
