China News Agency, Johannesburg, May 6 (Reporter Wang Xi) According to a report by South African authoritative media on the evening of May 5 local time, the ANC, the ruling party of South Africa, had already appointed one of its top leaders, the party’s general secretary, Egypt on May 3. Magashur temporarily suspended.

As a veteran politician in South Africa and a veteran of the ANC, the 61-year-old Macassur participated in the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa and served successively as governor of the Free State of South Africa and secretary of the ANC.

Earlier, Magashur was accused of being involved in an asbestos tender and corruption case in South Africa's Free State Province, involving up to 250 million rand (approximately RMB 125 million).

Magashur faces multiple charges of corruption, fraud and money laundering.

In response, Magashur replied that he firmly opposed this decision. He will appeal the suspension decision made by the ANC after the meeting of the ANC National Executive Committee held this weekend.

The South African De Klerk Foundation issued a statement on the same day, saying that it welcomes the above-mentioned decision of the ANC and believes that this is a lasting and important measure to respond to and combat corruption in South Africa’s political arena.

South African President Ramaphosa recently stated in public that the ANC, as the ruling party in South Africa, will severely crack down on all kinds of corruption in order to restore the trust of the South African people in the party.

All members of the party suspected of corruption charges must resign within the prescribed time limit.
