Rostock (dpa / mv) - The state tourism association Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has proposed a "north German way" for the future regulations in tourism and gastronomy.

It is important for the guests and the competition to create the same and understandable conditions in the summer, said association manager Tobias Woitendorf on Thursday.

Schleswig-Holstein decided on Wednesday that vaccinated, convalescent and tested people would be allowed to visit inns throughout the country from May 17, under strict guidelines, and stay overnight in accommodation establishments including campsites.

Many providers in the tourism industry are now afraid of losing ground to Schleswig-Holstein.

The current regulation for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is currently valid until May 22nd, so far there have only been mind games that run towards model regions after Whitsun, said Woitendorf.

With a view to the summer season, however, practical experience with the stricter set of rules, which includes testing, is more important.

The experience from model regions in other regions can be built on.
