Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Increased domestic demand has filled the order books of the Baden-Württemberg mechanical engineering company.

In March, incoming orders increased by a total of 28 percent compared to the same month last year, announced the regional association of the Association of German Mechanical and Plant Engineering (VDMA) on Thursday in Stuttgart.

Orders from Germany increased by 39 percent, foreign orders by 23 percent.

Due to the significant growth since the beginning of the year, the first quarter was 20 percent up on the same period last year, the association said.

It is encouraging that the domestic market is now finally also providing impetus.

In the Corona year 2020, the export-oriented German key industry recorded the sharpest drop in orders since the financial crisis.
