Berlin (dpa) - Ex-national goalkeeper Jens Lehmann has again apologized for his racist Whatsapp message to TV expert Dennis Aogo.

"You shouldn't make such slogans, otherwise they will become socially acceptable," wrote the former national goalkeeper on the short message service Twitter.

"I would like to apologize once again from the bottom of my heart, I deeply regret my statement and ask for forgiveness from everyone who has felt hurt by it," added the 51-year-old on Thursday.

Lehmann had caused outrage with a message that was accidentally sent directly to Aogo.

In it, the former goalkeeper wrote via WhatsApp: "Is Dennis actually your black guy?"

The sentence was mistaken with a laughing smiley in front of the question mark.

To whom he actually wanted to send the message is still unclear.

Aogo, who works as an expert for the broadcaster Sky, published the statement on Instagram and wrote: «WOW are you serious?

@jenslehmannofficial The message was probably not meant for me !!! »

As a reaction to Lehmann's misconduct, Lars Windhorst, as an investor in Hertha BSC, withdrew the former goalkeeper's seat on the supervisory board of the Bundesliga club.

The broadcasters Sky and Sport1 announced that they would in future forego Lehmann's appearances in their programs.

He had already apologized to Aogo on Wednesday and said publicly: "In a private message from my cell phone to Dennis Aogo, an impression was created for which I apologized in conversation with Dennis," Lehmann wrote on Twitter.

The 51-year-old added about Aogo: "As a former national player he is very knowledgeable and has a great presence and brings a quota to Sky."

With his renewed apology, Lehmann now also admitted his unacceptable behavior in terms of content.
