  According to the new constitution, Kyrgyzstan will transition from a parliamentary system to a presidential system.

In addition, the state will set up a meeting of people’s representatives with consultation and coordination functions to advise on issues such as the direction of the country’s social development.

At the same time, the number of members of the Kyrgyz parliament will be reduced from 120 to 90.

  According to the news released by the Kyrgyz President’s Press Bureau, the new constitution will take effect immediately.

Zaparov made a speech after signing the new constitution. He first expressed his condolences to the people who lost their lives in the recent conflict at the Gita border and promised to rebuild the farmhouses in the villages destroyed on the border as soon as possible.

Zaparov also talked about national political and economic issues, paid attention to economic and trade fields and socially disadvantaged groups, clarified the direction of foreign policy, and emphasized the importance of national self-awareness.

Zaparov also put forward proposals for the reform of national law enforcement agencies and the military.

  In addition, Zaparov also signed a decree on the same day to dissolve the government cabinet, and appointed a new cabinet prime minister, first deputy prime minister, deputy prime minister, and relevant ministries and commissions. The new national administrative agency announced the completion of its establishment.

According to the Kyrgyz President’s Information Bureau, Maribov still served as prime minister, and most of the heads of ministries and commissions were able to stay in office.

  According to the presidential decree, the newly formed cabinet has 14 ministries and 2 national committees including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Ecological and Climate Committee.

In addition, the cabinet also has four departments, including the Financial Investigation Bureau and the Intellectual Property and Innovation Agency.

  Zaparov was elected president on January 20, 2021.

Kyrgyzstan held a referendum in June 2010 and passed a new constitution. The country's government has transitioned from a presidential system to a parliamentary system.

On January 10 this year, Kyrgyzstan held a presidential election and held a referendum on the country's political system. Over 80% of voters supported the presidential system.

On April 11, Kyrgyzstan held a constitutional referendum.

According to statistics from Kyrgyzstan’s Central Election Commission, more than 1.32 million people voted in this referendum, and more than 70% of them supported the new constitution.
