Editor's note: Through the joint efforts of the whole party and the people of all ethnic groups, at the important moment of the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, my country has achieved a comprehensive victory in the fight against poverty. According to the current standards, all 98.99 million rural poor people have been lifted out of poverty, and all 832 poor counties have been lifted out of poverty. After taking off their hats, all 128,000 poor villages were listed, the overall regional poverty was resolved, the arduous task of eradicating absolute poverty was completed, and another human miracle was created in the annals of history!

The broad masses of people out of poverty showed sincere smiles. This is the greatest affirmation of the fight against poverty, the highest praise for the broad masses of party members and cadres, and the best consolation to the revolutionary ancestors and heroes.

"Learning Everyday" specially planned the "Laughing so beautiful" series to record the happy lives of the folks and take you to experience the beautiful changes in the countryside.

After more than 30 years of studying every day, Wang Zhengan, the old principal of Beijia Village Primary School in Zhengding Town, Zhengding County, Hebei Province, still remembers that when he received donations from Xi Jinping, his nose was sour.

It was May 1985. Before Xi Jinping left Zhengding to work in Xiamen, he made a special trip to Beijia Village Primary School to inquire about the progress of the school building renovation project.

"What's so bad about building a new building?" Xi Jinping asked.

"There is a shortage of steel bars now." Wang Zhengan replied.

Xi Jinping listened and explained to the accompanying staff to write down the issue to be resolved.

Before leaving, Xi Jinping handed Wang Zhengan a wad of money, "Tomorrow, I will leave Zhengding, and I will leave this money for the children to buy books." 200 yuan, equivalent to three months' salary of a county-level cadre at the time. .

Later, with the support of the county, the school also pulled back a truckload of bargain-priced steel bars.

"Secretary Xi can remember the Beijia Village Primary School." said Wang Zhengan, who took over as the principal in the summer of 1984.

One day in March 1984, Xi Jinping came to Beijia Village Primary School to investigate the school building on the spot.

What he didn't expect was that the economic conditions of Beijia Village were good, but the village elementary school was a dilapidated scene: the school door collapsed, teachers and students entered and exited through a large hole in the wall; the classroom window was broken and the door was broken. Now, the roof tiles are almost gone; there are not enough stools, and some children can only sit on the ground; the playground is a avenue of carriages and tractors driving back and forth, noisy and dangerous...

Seeing children learning and growing up in such an environment, Xi Jinping is very sad: "How did you make it like this? How can you see such a run-down school?"

The village cadres who came after hearing the news hurriedly explained: "The village has not paid enough attention to the improvement of the school. At that time..."

"When will it be?" Xi Jinping interrupted the village cadres and asked them to have a meeting that night to implement rectification. "At least there must be courtyard walls, light bulbs, glass, wooden desks and benches."

"As far as the conditions of your village are concerned, you shouldn't make the elementary school look like this. It is perfectly possible to improve the school." Xi Jinping angered the village cadres, "If you don't act within a month, you will be removed from your post! This matter must be told to the township, and the township party committee must also supervise and question, otherwise, they will have to bear the responsibility of'sitting evenly'!"

"You guys, I'm sorry your children." Before leaving, Xi Jinping's tone eased.

In 1983, Xi Jinping, then secretary of the Zhengding County Party Committee of the Communist Party of China, talked with the masses.

Xi Jinping is concerned about education, starting from school buildings, and asking all townships and villages to "make the best house in the village a school."

As soon as he arrived in Zhengding, he suggested and deployed a census of dilapidated buildings in schools across the county, and found that more than 3,500 square meters of school buildings in more than 200 villages in the county were dilapidated buildings.

Schools are broken, not only for economic reasons, but also for institutional and conceptual reasons.

The book "The Story of Xi Jinping Poverty Alleviation" mentioned that at that time, people generally believed that education was a matter of the Education Bureau and had nothing to do with the commune or brigade.

Excluding teachers’ salaries, the funds available for education are very little left.

For this reason, Xi Jinping proposed that the commune and brigade are the governing units of schools in their jurisdictions, and "who holds the children of the family."

But the meeting was held, but the implementation was not good. That's why the anger during the trip to the Beijia Village Primary School came about.

The people of Zhengding remember that in order to grasp the dilapidated and old school buildings in the county and the progress of repairs, Xi Jinping went to transfer schools whenever he had time.

When listening to the report, he would directly ask whether the windows of which school and which classroom were repaired, and which school and which row of bungalows had the roofs repaired?

"Secretary Xi has already figured out the situation, and I wrote it down in his notebook." said He Yu, the then deputy county magistrate.

At that time, Zhengding repaired or demolished 1,020 dilapidated classroom buildings, purchased more than 3,000 sets of wooden desks and chairs for the children, and built new teaching buildings for 16 village schools.

Whether working at the local level or the central government, General Secretary Xi Jinping has always insisted that “helping the poor must help the wisdom”.

He repeatedly emphasized: "Let children in poverty-stricken areas receive a good education is an important task of poverty alleviation and development, and also an important way to block the intergenerational transmission of poverty." Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, nearly 100 million people have been lifted out of poverty. Every 3 seconds, one person crosses the poverty line.

Behind this, education has played an important role and played an active role in poverty alleviation.
