Düsseldorf (dpa) - The consumer goods group Henkel has raised its forecast after a strong start to the year.

The company announced on Thursday in Düsseldorf that organic revenues, i.e. adjusted for currency effects as well as acquisitions and sales, should increase by four to six percent.

So far, the brand manufacturer had assumed two to five percent.

Henkel was also somewhat more optimistic about the adjusted operating margin (EBIT) and earnings per preferred share adjusted for special effects and currency fluctuations.

Sales rose in the first quarter by 0.8 percent to around 5 billion euros, as the company announced on the basis of final figures.

As already known, organic growth was 7.7 percent, which is a little higher than the provisional figures presented at the end of March.

Henkel benefited in particular from a sustained strong recovery in demand for industrial adhesives.

The company did not provide any information on the results in the first quarter.
