Hamburg (dpa / lno) - A good three weeks after a corona outbreak in Hamburg's remand prison on Holstenglacis, there are no more positive cases in the prison.

A spokeswoman for the judicial authority announced on Thursday that no one is currently suffering from the virus infection, and neither servants nor prisoners are in quarantine.

At the end of April, 50 inmates and 16 prison staff were still under quarantine, according to a Senate response to a small question from the left in the citizenry. According to this, 11 prisoners and 20 employees tested positive for the entire month of April. For the prisoners on remand, this meant being locked in the cell, no visits, not even from lawyers, and no participation in events or free periods. In addition, 30 trial dates that they were supposed to attend were canceled.

"The quarantine situation of the prisoners is terrible," said the judicial policy spokeswoman for the left-wing parliamentary group, Cansu Özdemir.

She called on the Senate to make cell phones available to those affected in the future in order to enable at least a minimum of social exchange.

In addition, they would have to be looked after intensively.
