Ulm (dpa / lsw) - Collapsed nurses, no time to drink: The Verdi union complains about poor working conditions for nurses in the corona intensive care unit at the Ulm University Hospital (UKU).

Union secretary Jannik Widon told the “Schwäbische Zeitung” (Thursday) that long breaks are often not possible.

The clinic had failed to take precautions in time to prepare for the third corona wave.

For example, the nurses would have to change in the corridor because a patient room previously reserved for this purpose was now occupied.

In addition, there is a lack of staff.

The clinic rejected the allegations in a statement.

At best, these were collected by individual nursing staff and do not correspond to the facts.

"The claim that there were" chaotic conditions "in the UKU's Covid-19 intensive care unit, which had a negative effect on patient care," said the UKU.

The management can be approached at any time on current issues.

The employees are also supported in avoiding burnout.

Between February 2020 and April 2021, 565 patients with Covid-19 were treated as inpatients at the UKU.
