India broke a new world record for Covid-19 contamination on Wednesday with 412,000 cases reported in 24 hours for 3,600 deaths, this while the number of tests carried out has fallen sharply in recent days.
The big cities affected first, like New Delhi and Mumbai, are starting to see the situation stabilize, but the virus is now spreading very quickly in the south of the country.

The scene takes place Wednesday morning, in a public hospital on the outskirts of Madras, in southern India: 447 patients are treated and 70% of them need respiratory assistance.
When suddenly, the oxygen pressure drops sharply: Nine patients die in a few hours, suffocated.
Two others had already died for the same reason during the day.
Oxygen consumption doubled in a week, says the management of this public hospital, because of the arrival of patients with Covid-19, and the distribution of oxygen would not have followed.
This kind of drama only occurred in northern India and especially the New Delhi area until now.
The crisis is now hitting the south of the country.
Bangalore, for example, has become the worst affected city in the country.
On Wednesday, it reported 23,000 cases in 24 hours, 10% more than New Delhi.
