Munich (dpa) - BMW sold around 220,000 cars worldwide in April, a good 10 percent more than in April of the pre-crisis year 2019. The sales figures at that time were exceeded in all regions of the world, the group announced in Munich.

With this, BMW continued the sales success of the first quarter, said sales director Pieter Nota.

In the first quarter, thanks to the high demand in Asia, BMW sold 5 percent more cars than before the Corona crisis.

The interest in electric cars is particularly gratifying, said Nota: "We are well on the way to double our sales of fully electric vehicles this year as planned."

With currently 3 e-cars and 14 plug-in hybrids, the BMW Group offers more electrified models than the competition.
