Wolfsburg (dpa / lni) - The Grizzlys Wolfsburg have missed the premature title win in the German ice hockey league.

The Lower Saxony lost the second playoff final for the German championship against the Eisbären Berlin 1: 4 (0: 1, 1: 2, 0: 1) on Wednesday evening in their own hall.

This series will now be decided in a third and decisive game on Friday evening in Berlin.

Three days after their surprising 3-2 win after extra time, the Wolfsburg-based company seemed more nervous than encouraging the prospect of winning the first title in club history.

The seven-time DEL champion from Berlin put the grizzlies under pressure from the start and took the lead 3-0 through Frank Hördler (17th), Ryan McKiernan (28th) and Sebastian Streu (31st).

Gerrit Fauser brought the Wolfsburg team up again (38th).

But after the Grizzlies had already taken their goalkeeper off the ice three minutes before the end, Lukas Reichel hit the empty goal in the 59th minute to make it 1: 4.
