Hamburg (dpa / lno) - In the Hamburg trial of a knife attack in a parking lot, the verdict is expected today.

A 24-year-old man is charged with attempted murder in the district court.

In August last year, he is said to have stabbed another man at least eleven times with a jackknife in the parking lot of a fast-food restaurant on Eiffestrasse and seriously injured him.

In its plea, the Hamburg public prosecutor's office called for five and a half years in prison for attempted manslaughter and dangerous bodily harm.

The defense wanted to hold its plea on Thursday morning.

The attorneys for the accessory prosecution pleaded for five years and eight months.

The background to the crime is said to have been a dispute between the defendant's parents and the victim's family after a road traffic incident.

The victim's father is said to have beaten the accused's sister and her mother tore off part of her headscarf.
