Politics Pulse buried in the Valencian Government for the file on the brother of Ximo Puig
Courts The Civil Guard requests access to investigate the accounts and invoices of the companies of Ximo Puig's brother
The investigation into the alleged fraud with the subsidies that the business network received from
Francis Puig
and his partners from up to three regional governments is continuing. The judicial siege, which splashes squarely on the brother of the Valencian president, Ximo Puig, is now narrowing down to investigate the aid that the companies under suspicion received not only from the Generalitat Valenciana, but also from the Catalan and Aragonese governments.
The Court of Instruction number 4 of Valencia has requested from these two governments the administrative files and all the information related to the subsidies they gave to these companies. Specifically, the Generalitat of Catalonia is asked about the aid that
Canal Maestrat
received
- from Puig's partners, the Adell Bover brothers - between 2016 and 2018. For its part, the Government of Aragon is asked to certify If the information published on its subsidies portal about the aid granted to
Mas Mut
is correct and, consequently, that it also provide the files.
The investigation seeks to unravel the possible "fraudulent award" of various types of subsidies, according to the order, to the commercial companies
Comunicacions dels Ports
-of Francis Puig-, Mas Mut Produccions, Canal Maestrat,
Nova CB
and
Kriol Produccions
. The subsidies in the spotlight extend from 2015 -year of the arrival of Ximo Puig to the Presidency of the Generalitat Valenciana- to 2018, and there are them for different concepts.
From
aid to Valencian in the media
to subsidies for publishing digital news media in Catalan and Aranese, in addition to the LEADER program or the employment promotion program for young people. Hence, all companies are also asked to provide the physical invoices with which they justified the expenses to qualify for the subsidies. That is, they want to find out the veracity of the accounts, which has motivated the judge to also go to the Tax Agency to obtain the list of bank accounts of the mercantile companies.
With this last step, the judge admits the requirements made by the Economic Crimes Team of the Organic Unit of the Valencia Judicial Police and by the Prosecutor's Office itself in the procedure opened for an alleged fraud of subsidies to Francis Puig and his partners.
According to the latest figure given by the deputy spokesperson of the PP in the Cortes, Eva Ortiz, the aid obtained "illegally" by this group of businessmen amounts to 2.3 million euros since 2015, of which more than half correspond to subsidies from the Valencian.
Even so, the three parties of the Valencian Government -PSOE, Compromís and Unidas Podemos- recently slammed the creation of an
investigation commission
as requested by the popular ones.
But this is not the only front open to Puig and his partners, who have
been sanctioned by the
Valencian Community Competition Defense Commission
for setting up a "cartel" and agreeing on prices in a contest of the Valencian public radio television À Punt .
Some fines that came after an investigation promoted by the Conselleria de Economía de Compromís when À Punt herself denounced the attempted fix: 16,801 euros for Comunicacions dels Ports;
26,103 for Canal Maestrat and Kriol Produccions and 3,337 for Visualiza.
