Erfurt (dpa / th) - The Greens parliamentary group leader and education politician Astrid Rothe-Beinlich has urged the rapid development of tutoring offers during the holidays.

"There is not much time left until the new school year begins," said Rothe-Beinlich on Wednesday.

Thuringia's Minister of Education, Helmut Holter (left), has not yet presented any concrete plans on how to make up for learning backlogs among students due to the temporarily restricted operation of schools in the corona pandemic.

Rothe-Beinlich called for private tutoring institutes to be included.

Additional human resources are also required for schools.

Therefore, recourse should also be made to student teachers, volunteer and retired teachers.

The background is a catch-up program totaling two billion euros that the federal government launched on Wednesday.

One billion euros is earmarked for tutoring and support programs for students who have to catch up with learning delays.

Another billion euros are to be invested in social measures in order to cushion the psychological consequences of the crisis for children and young people.

The education policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group, Christian Tischner, sharply criticized the Thuringian Ministry of Education.

"I am shocked that there are still no indications from the Ministry of Education how to deal with the learning arrears," said Tischner.

The questions are whether certain lessons have to be reduced in order to catch up in core subjects, which tutoring can be offered and which external partners can also be won over.

Tischner pointed out that the federal government's catch-up program had long been announced.
