Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Because of the current lack of corona vaccine in the southwest, Minister of Social Affairs Manne Lucha (Greens) has written a letter to Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU).

In it he appealed to «the amount of vaccine made available for Baden-Württemberg for the vaccination centers to increase by 100,000 vaccine doses and to continue at the level of 400,000 to 450,000», reports the «Schwäbische Zeitung» (Thursday).

“Unfortunately, federal vaccine deliveries are not keeping up with what we need.

I am asking you to readjust this as early as the coming calendar week 19 », it says in the letter from the minister, which is available to the newspaper.

At full load, the vaccination centers in Baden-Württemberg could vaccinate 60,000 people per day and thus 420,000 per week.

The vaccine centers in the country are threatened with a vaccine shortage in the coming week.

Lucha said on Tuesday that appointments for second vaccinations could be guaranteed, but problems emerged for the first vaccinations.

In some vaccination centers, this could also mean that appointments for the first vaccination would have to be canceled, a spokesman for the ministry added.

The reason is that the additional deliveries promised by the federal government do not arrive at the vaccination centers.

Lucha referred on Wednesday not only to the vaccination centers, but also to the planned start of the company medical vaccinations.

An additional vaccine is required for this.
