Hanover (dpa / lni) - The opening of tourism in Lower Saxony from the beginning of next week in areas with a seven-day incidence of less than 100 should remain limited to residents of the state until at least the end of May.

Government spokeswoman Anke Pörksen said on Wednesday in Hanover how the easing step works and how the number of corona cases developed for two weeks.

A further opening of tourism for guests outside of Lower Saxony could then be incorporated into the country's subsequent Corona regulation, which will take effect from May 31.

From next Monday, tourist overnight stays in Lower Saxony outside the Corona hotspots should be possible again, as I said, initially only for their own residents. They can then check into hotels, holiday apartments and campsites again; this is coupled with negative rapid tests or proof of vaccination. There is a capacity limit of 60 percent. There should be a one-day re-occupancy ban for holiday apartments and houses. A negative rapid test is required upon arrival, daily tests are then required in hotels, and twice a week in holiday apartments. There should be no separate concepts for tourism on the North Sea islands.

In addition to tourism, Lower Saxony is also planning easing for trade and gastronomy from Monday, also everywhere where the incidence is below the 100 mark.

This was already the case on Wednesday in 32 of the 45 districts and major cities.

In the national average, the incidence fell again to 92.4.

The state government has a step-by-step plan for the further way out of the corona lockdown in development.

According to the government spokeswoman, this will probably contain four levels: The incidence range from 50 to 100, from 35 to 50, from 10 to 35 and from 0 to 10.
