Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - Die Linke has submitted its own final report on the work of the committee of inquiry into the Halle attack.

In the committee's final paper, essential points were missing, justified the left parliamentary group leader Eva von Angern and the parliamentary group's interior expert, Henriette Quade, in their own report on Wednesday.

Above all, the interests and perspectives of those affected were inadequate in the report.

In the 50-page report, the party lists six sub-items that, in their opinion, are neglected in the committee's final report. Among other things, she criticized the fact that the security authorities had not learned any lessons from the attacks in Pittsburgh and Christchurch and were therefore not prepared for the attack. The party also criticizes the care given to the survivors, many of whom complained about insensitive and unprofessional treatment by the German authorities.

Von Angern and Quade announced that the party will continue to work to clarify the attack in parliament in the coming legislative period.

To this end, Die Linke wants to work for a commission of inquiry that should generally deal with the social problem of right-wing extremism in Saxony-Anhalt.

The open questions about the attack should therefore be clarified in the interior committee of the next state parliament.

The Halle committee had primarily dealt with the police operation on the day of the incident and the official actions in the weeks after.

Several parties had criticized the investigation mandate of the committee enforced by the AfD as inadequate and accused the AfD of sabotaging the clarification of the really important questions of the attack.

On October 9, 2019, a heavily armed terrorist tried to break into the synagogue in Halle on the highest Jewish holiday, Yom Kippur, and to cause a massacre.

However, he did not get into the church, then shot the 40-year-old passer-by Jana L. and later the 20-year-old Kevin S. In a kebab shop, he injured other people and engaged in an exchange of fire with the police before he was arrested.
