Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Greens and CDU want to make Baden-Württemberg the world's leading market and provider for environmental and energy technologies (Green Tech).

To this end, a “Green Tech Alliance”, supported by the economy, should be brought into being, which is aimed in particular at medium-sized companies and start-ups, shared the heads of Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann (Greens) and CDU country chief Thomas Strobl at the presentation of the coalition agreement on Wednesday at the Arena2036 research campus in Stuttgart.

As a leading industrial country, the goal is to become the first region in the world with climate-neutral production. "This is a great opportunity, especially for our core industrial sectors." In order to achieve the goals, an inter-departmental platform is planned. In addition, a network for climate protection technologies is being examined in order to create the conditions for a “Green Tech Valley” in Baden-Württemberg, the agreement continues. There should be a research and education offensive at universities, vocational schools, application-oriented research institutes and other institutions.

The Greens and CDU want to support small and medium-sized companies on their way to climate neutrality in the next five years.

"We want to set up a new, business-oriented center for climate-neutral production, targeting CO2 as a raw material."
