Berlin (AP) - DFB ambassador Jimmy Hartwig has sharply condemned the behavior of the former national soccer goalkeeper Jens Lehmann.

"It is incomprehensible to me that an outstanding goalkeeper like Jens Lehmann speaks of 'quota blacks'", writes the former national player and professional of Hamburger SV in a statement published by the German Football Association on Wednesday.

"It is not just the language that is terrifying, but also the thinking behind it."

Lehmann had previously apologized for a racist WhatsApp message from former professional Dennis Aogo.

He had posted a screenshot of a WhatsApp history on Instagram Story.

He had blacked out all the messages that, according to the screenshot, came from Lehmann's cell phone, except for one.

The 34-year-old Aogo had the question outlined in red: "Is Dennis actually your black one?"

«The DFB and the clubs do a lot against racism.

But unfortunately there is still a long way to go in the minds of some people, ”said Hartwig.

The 66-year-old described Hertha BSC's quick and decisive action as “urgently needed”.

Investor Lars Windhorst has terminated the consulting contract with Lehmann.
