Kiel (dpa / lno) - Sparkasse customers in Schleswig-Holstein have stored significantly more money in their accounts in view of the corona pandemic last year.

The deposits increased by 9.0 percent to 33.7 billion euros in 2020, said the President of the Savings Banks and Giro Association for Schleswig-Holstein, Oliver Stolz, on Wednesday.

"That leads to an excess of deposits."

Because of the current interest rate situation, the savings banks would have to act and could not always avoid fees for certain amounts of deposits.

Since the individual savings banks decide, he could not give any general information on the conditions, said Stolz.

The limit for individual institutes is, for example, 50,000 euros or 100,000 euros.
