Munich (dpa / lby) - The CSU is sticking to its strict no to lifting the controversial minimum distance rule for wind turbines.

CSU General Secretary Markus Blume and Construction Minister Kerstin Schreyer (CSU) decidedly rejected a move by Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber (Free Voters) to overturn the so-called 10H rule on Wednesday.

This states that a wind turbine must be at least ten times its height away from the nearest residential area.

"The 10H rule is not being shaken," said Blume.

"We have to accelerate the expansion of renewable energies, but together with and not against the population."

Schreyer also stated that the current legal situation would be adhered to.
