Aachen (dpa / lnw) - In the city region of Aachen, if the incidence values continue to fall, schools could return to alternating classes on Monday (May 10).

The Aachen city region announced this on Wednesday.

The Robert Koch Institute reported a value of 144.9 infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days for the region.

In North Rhine-Westphalia, the switch to distance teaching applies if the seven-day incidence exceeds the threshold value of 165 on three consecutive days.

If the value falls stably below 165, the schools will return to alternating lessons on the first Monday if the NRW Ministry of Health has determined this.

In Aachen alone, half of the 20,000 students could go back to school in this case.

For child daycare, this would mean a return to the restricted regular operations.
