Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - North Rhine-Westphalian municipalities have so far requested a good 9500 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine for vaccinating the homeless.

This emerges from a response from the NRW Ministry of Health on Tuesday to a request from the German Press Agency.

“The ministry assumes that the vaccine centers will continuously request quantities of vaccine.

In some vaccination centers, vaccinations for the homeless will not start until the next few days, ”said a spokeswoman.

The state of North Rhine-Westphalia currently wants to use the Johnson & Johnson vaccine primarily for homeless people because the preparation only needs to be administered once for full vaccination protection.

So far, NRW has received almost 89,000 doses of it: On April 25, 48,000 vaccine doses of the vaccine approved in March were delivered to North Rhine-Westphalia in a first delivery. On Monday, the federal government made another 40,800 vaccine doses available to the state at short notice. On Monday evening, a total of 79,000 vaccine doses from Johnson & Johnson were still in the state camp, the spokeswoman said. "In this context, the plans for the use of further vaccine quantities from Johnson & Johnson are currently being finalized in order to be able to vaccinate them promptly," the spokeswoman continued. According to the RKI, 328 people in North Rhine-Westphalia had been vaccinated with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine by Monday evening.

In Düsseldorf, the vaccinations in facilities for the homeless and homeless had started with the vaccine on Monday.

According to the city, a total of almost 4,000 cans are available.

The vaccinations are to be offered by mobile vaccination teams at the vaccination center in 31 facilities.

According to the city, vaccinations are already planned and scheduled for this week in a total of 13 of them.
