It was the British mutation that spread rapidly and paralyzed Lycksele throughout the month of February.

Then it has turned around.

Two weeks ago, only six new infections appeared in the statistics and that trend has continued.

- Based on the fact that there was only one confirmed infection last week, we are now investing in zero vision.

Quite cool that the extreme infection situation has been able to be reversed in this way, says Isabell Zemrén, hospital coordinator at Lycksele hospital.

Stricter restrictions still apply

Due to the strong spread of infection in February, Lycksele is still one of the municipalities in the country with the highest infection per capita, overall during the pandemic.

In exact numbers, it is about 1570 people who have received a confirmed covid infection here.

- We do not have the same pressure in the organization now as in February, states mayor Ingela Gotthardsson.

At the same time as Lycksele has succeeded in limiting the spread of infection, it continues to increase in the county.

There are stricter restrictions throughout the county this week, pending a new decision.

The majority of new cases are now in the Umeå area, where young adults in particular have been tested positive for the virus.
