Munich (dpa) - Siemens Energy remains profitable in its first year as an independent company.

The energy company, which was spun off from Siemens in 2020, also presented black figures for the second fiscal quarter from January to March on Wednesday.

Although 31 million euros are significantly less profit than in the previous quarter, a year ago the company was still deeply in the red.

Sales fell slightly year-on-year to 6.5 billion euros.

The wind power subsidiary Siemens Gamesa in particular was doing better financially than a year ago.

In addition, the Spanish majority stake also boosted incoming orders with several large orders.

At group level, it was up 39 percent at 10.5 billion euros.

"I am pleased that we were able to achieve solid results in a challenging environment in the second quarter and that we are on the way to achieving our goals for the financial year," said CEO Christian Bruch.

"Our strong order intake proves our competitiveness."

In view of the development in the first half of the fiscal year, Siemens Energy confirmed its earnings forecast.

With the expected sales development, the company narrowed the corridor: Instead of a growth of 2 to 12 percent, 3 to 8 percent are now targeted.
