Munich (dpa / lby) - In the struggle for more and more effective climate protection, Bavaria's Environment Minister Thorsten Glauber (Free Voters) challenges Prime Minister Markus Söder and the CSU with the call for more wind turbines.

On Wednesday, Glauber announced the submission of a new climate protection law for Bavaria for this May - a little faster than von Söder and himself last indicated.

And one of his points: He will work "to repeal the 10-H rule," said Glauber of the German Press Agency in Munich.

The rule that has been in force in Bavaria since 2014 states that a wind turbine must be at least ten times its height away from residential developments. In order to be able to deviate from this, a municipal council must take an express resolution. Critics complain that since then the expansion of wind power in Bavaria has practically come to a standstill. Söder had announced on Monday that he wanted to adhere to the regulation. Instead, he advocated more modern systems at old locations.

«We are working flat out on the Climate Protection Act 2.0.

It is best to deal with important issues immediately.

The real K question is the climate question, ”said Glauber.

The law is a central building block for the generation challenge to master climate change.

«It will remain a slim law.

And it will be a law that meets all the requirements for modern climate protection, ”he promised.

«We want to sharpen the legal goals: Bavaria should be climate neutral by 2040.

We want to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 65 percent by 2030, ”the minister announced.

Söder had also given these two points as a target on Monday.

The law should be presented to the cabinet in May, said Glauber.

"The state parliament should have the chance to pass the law before the summer break."

The law will contain new regulations, such as a new funding program for construction and mobility.

"In addition, we want to anchor in the law a stop for state subsidies that contradict the climate targets set by law."

In addition to the repeal of the 10-H rule, he will campaign for a photovoltaic obligation on state roofs and also on new buildings - Söder had also repeatedly announced such a photovoltaic obligation.

“But climate protection doesn't happen through laws in the filing cabinet.

We can only master climate change with specific measures, ”said Glauber.

Among other things, he issued a 365-euro ticket for everyone as a destination.
