Grünheide (dpa / bb) - Brandenburg's CDU parliamentary group leader Jan Redmann sees no negligence on the part of the state after allegations against US electric car manufacturer Tesla for possible violations on the construction site in Grünheide.

"If violations are found there, it will also be ensured that Tesla turns them off," said Redmann on Tuesday in Potsdam.

"Things happen on construction sites that require supervision to intervene."

He warned against scandal.

"Overall, however, this is a construction site that is going really well."

The opposition left-wing faction is planning a so-called minimum wage fraud detector on the Internet. "Tesla, as the builder, is responsible for ensuring that minimum wages and working hours are adhered to," said left parliamentary group leader Sebastian Walter. His group will put a reporter online on Wednesday, with which employees from the Tesla construction site, but also from all over Brandenburg, can report if they are paid too little.

The State Office for Occupational Safety and Health is following up information on exceeding the permitted working hours on the construction site for the car factory.

The Ministry of Health had stated that there had been no evidence so far.

The magazine “Business Insider” as well as “Bild” -Zeitung and “BZ” had reported on excessively long layers of Eastern European workers who were supposed to receive less than the minimum wage.

Tesla was initially unavailable for comment.

According to the ministry, 48 violations have been recorded so far this year. For the most part, violations of occupational safety regulations were found, for which the responsibility lay with the construction companies. They primarily concerned problems with fall protection, when attaching loads and when shoring trenches or pits. In all cases, the work could have been resumed after the deficiencies had been remedied during the inspection.

Tesla is threatened with a later start for the production of electric cars than previously planned in July.

According to the State Environment Agency, the application for approval of the project will probably have to be publicly interpreted again because Tesla wants to include a battery factory in the previous application.

Brandenburg has not yet approved the car factory in terms of environmental law.

Tesla builds with the help of early approvals.
