Berlin (dpa / bb) - With the help of an admission app on the mobile phone, the results of corona tests should be digitally verifiable in Berlin.

The so-called "BärCODE" should be generated in the test points and scanned offline via a test app during admission controls.

The Senate approved a corresponding pilot project from the Charité on Tuesday.

The "BärCODE" can also be used as a digital proof of vaccination.

The software and the “BärCODE” are to be developed and tested by the end of 2021.

The application will initially be tested in barber shops under the supervision of the Charité.

The Senate also announced that the code could then be used across the board, for example when entering cultural institutions.

The “BärCODE” is a digital version of “Seal and Signature” for every negative Corona test, said initiator Roland Eils, founding director of the Center for Digital Health at the Charité.

The code could ensure the smooth operation of cultural institutions after their reopening, explained Senator for Culture Klaus Lederer (Linke).

The application also shows an opening perspective for gastronomy, hotels and culture, said Senator for Economic Affairs Ramona Pop (Greens).
