Cologne (dpa) - Former DFL managing director Andreas Rettig wants to contractually oblige the players to social commitment at his future club Viktoria Köln.

"At Viktoria, not only football will be played soon," said the long-time Bundesliga manager, who will join the third division football team as chairman of the management team on June 1st, told the "Bild" newspaper.

"When I introduced myself to the team, I stated that we would anchor a common good clause in every contract," the 58-year-old continued: "This applies to the board of directors, employees, trainers and professionals. An average of one hour of social engagement per month, calculated on a year-by-year basis, will be compulsory - whether for blood donation, in a nursing home or in a daycare center. We'll fix that. "

In the "Kölnische Rundschau", Rettig further explained that "a colorful bouquet of suggestions will be made", "so that everyone can make their contribution over the course of a year."

With the clause "by the way, we should be pioneers".

His commitment to sustainability basically encompasses the areas of the environment, social affairs and corporate governance: "These are the three most important factors in assessing social relevance."
