The orange subway train running on it also crashed along with a collapsed overpass.

At around 10:25 pm on the 3rd of Mexico's local time, an overpass near Olivos Station on subway line 12 in the southern region of Mexico City, the capital, collapsed.

Mexican authorities say the accident has killed 24 people to date and that 79 people are being treated in hospitals.

The search was once suspended due to fears of a further crash of the subway, but a crane was used to search through the collapsed wreckage overnight.

Mexican authorities say no additional victims were found during the search operation.

Currently, the two cars have been moved to the ground and the exact cause of the accident

has been

investigated.

Local media reports that the earthquake in Mexico in September 2017 may have caused structural damage to the pillars on the overpass in this section.

Mexican authorities said they would thoroughly investigate the cause and disclose the cause transparently, and said they were looking for an international specialized agency to investigate the cause of the accident.
