Bremen (AP) - After the violent death of a 25-year-old woman, the murder trial against her husband at the time was interrupted on Tuesday.

The public prosecutor's office accuses the man of stabbing his wife to death in their shared apartment in Bremen at the end of October 2020.

According to the indictment, he is said to have killed her insidiously and for low motives (Ref .: 21Ks 280Js 71 280/20).

Since the defendant trembled severely on the second day of the hearing and appeared at times absent, the defense attorney refrained from reading out a statement from his client.

Trial observers had expected a confession on Tuesday.

After a long break, during which a psychiatrist was able to calm the defendant down, the 24-year-old German returned to the courtroom.

The presiding judge began by questioning a witness who worked as a police officer after the crime.

She described how upset the man was at the time.

Accordingly, he said that he stabbed his wife with the knife.

'What about my wife?

How is my wife doing? ”He asked several times.

According to the indictment, the man is said to have stabbed his wife 14 times - in the back, neck and neck area.

The 25-year-old died within minutes.

According to the investigation, the woman had told the man shortly before the crime that she wanted to finally separate and have a new relationship.

As several times before, the defendant is said to have threatened to kill himself.

The woman is said to have handed him a knife with a blade length of around 15 centimeters or put it down.

According to the indictment, she then turned away from him.

Since the accused trembled and looked very restless during the questioning of the policewoman, the presiding judge interrupted the hearing.

Those involved in the process wanted to advise in camera on how the process can be continued.

The next date on the plan is May 19th.
