Schwerin (dpa / mv) - Employees of the State Chancellery in Schwerin can do something to keep the offices clean.

Several cordless vacuum cleaners are available for this, as a government spokesman announced on Tuesday on request.

The measure is based on savings.

The NDR had previously reported on it.

Since April 1st, according to the government spokesman, the offices in the State Chancellery have only been cleaned every two weeks instead of every week.

Several rooms in which guests are received are not affected.

These include, for example, the office of Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD).

The Ministry of Finance justified the measure at the end of last year with the difficult budget situation caused by the Corona crisis.

In order to save up to 1.2 million a year, offices in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's state administration should only be cleaned every two weeks instead of every week.

In its justification, the ministry also referred to the increased proportion of employees working from home.
