Würzburg (dpa / lby) - A package with radioactive liquid leaked in an industrial area in Würzburg.

The fire brigade secured the package, but could not measure any radiation from the liquid, as a spokesman for the Würzburg professional fire brigade said after the incident on Tuesday.

None of the four employees of the shipping company who came into contact with the liquid were injured.

There was also no danger to the population at any time.

The contents of the package were definitely radioactive, the spokesman said.

However, there was no direct danger from the liquid.

The package was stored in a special barrel and can now be picked up by its recipient.

Because of the possible hazardous substance, the fire brigade came with a squad with protective equipment.

Around 50 helpers were involved in the two-hour mission.

At first, the fire brigade could not say what exactly the package and the liquid were.

Why the liquid leaked was also still unclear.

A police spokesman said there was no evidence of a crime.
