Schwerin (dpa / mv) - In contrast to other countries such as Bavaria, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania has not yet worked out a timetable for openings in the coming weeks in the corona pandemic.

"We have the state ordinance until May 22nd and you will look at it about a week in advance and decide," said Tourism Minister Harry Glawe (CDU) on Tuesday in Schwerin.

With a view to tourism and gastronomy, the state government has so far aimed to achieve a seven-day incidence of around 50.

Then, as a first step, model regions similar to those in Schleswig-Holstein are to be introduced in order to test what works.

There will be different models - it could be trade and gastronomy, hotel and gastronomy or even culture.

"We're not quite clear about that yet," said the Minister.

On Monday, the incidence in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania was 115.5.

Bavaria's Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) announced on the same day that gradual easing will be introduced in the Free State from next Monday.

In rural districts and urban districts with a stable seven-day incidence below 100, outdoor restaurants as well as theaters, concert halls, opera houses and cinemas are allowed to open from May 10th until 10 p.m.

At the beginning of the Whitsun holidays on May 21, regional tourism should be possible again: in districts and cities with stable numbers of less than 100 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, hotels, holiday apartments and campsites will be allowed to reopen.

According to the Robert Koch Institute, the seven-day incidence in Bavaria was last 145.4.

Lower Saxony, for example, is also following a phased plan for openings.
