Schwerin (dpa / mv) - The situation in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's hospitals is easing in relation to the corona pandemic.

Health Minister Harry Glawe (CDU) said on Tuesday in Schwerin that 309 Covid 19 patients are currently being treated there.

This means that 61.2 percent of the beds are used.

81 patients are in the intensive care unit - there, the occupancy rate has fallen to 72.3 percent.

The ventilation machines are only 54.5 percent occupied.

These are all signals that “we now have the overall situation much better under control,” said Glawe.

In addition to the seven-day incidence, bed occupancy with Covid 19 patients in the clinics is an important indicator of the course of the pandemic.

The incidence had fallen to 115.5 new infected people per 100,000 population within seven days by Monday.

Last Wednesday, the State Office for Health and Social Affairs reported 337 corona patients in the clinics, 90 of whom were in intensive care units.

The seven-day incidence since reached 132.3.
