Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The State Youth Association of Rhineland-Palatinate is disappointed that there will no longer be a ministry in the future that makes it clear that it is responsible for youth issues in its name.

The coalition parties SPD, Greens and FDP have agreed to reorganize the previous Ministry for Family, Women, Youth, Integration and Consumer Protection.

The Ministry, led by the Greens, has a new culture department and will in future be called the Ministry for Family, Women, Culture and Integration.

As the umbrella organization of 24 youth organizations in Rhineland-Palatinate, the State Youth Council spoke of a “fatal signal” in a statement.

Young people needed more than school, training and care, explained chairman Volker Steinberg.

“Therefore, the term youth must be found in the name of the ministry.

Independent, and not simply subsumed under the term family. "

Especially in the corona pandemic, children and young people have to do without a lot and have not been considered in the discussion for a long time.

"The long-term consequences of these cuts cannot be foreseen today."
