The Jordanian Ministry of Interior announced in a statement Monday that it decided to reopen two border crossings with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Syria to travelers, nearly nine months after they were closed due to the emerging coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

The statement, which was broadcast by the Jordan News Agency, said, "As of Monday, the Ministry of Interior began to activate the land platform at the Al-Omari border center (with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) at a rate of (200) people per day and at the Jaber Border Center (with Syria) at a rate of (150) people per day only. The approved health conditions in order to facilitate and simplify the procedures. "

Expatriates to the Kingdom, through these two crossings, must register on a dedicated government electronic platform called "Visit Jordan" and "Get Way to Jordan" and undergo a corona examination (BCR) five days before coming to the Kingdom in order to obtain the approval of the "QR Code" to enter.

The traveler will undergo a new examination upon arrival in the Kingdom and quarantine for a period of 14 days if he is infected.

The Jordanian authorities closed these two crossings last August after recording cases of Coronavirus among their workers.

Last month, Jordan restored the movement of travel through the "Aqaba-Nuweiba" crossing with Egypt to normal, after nearly a year of its closure.

In total, Jordan recorded more than 712,000 cases of coronavirus and 8,897 deaths.
